Seeking hazardous adventures !

AZORES DAY 2

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”

The next day we drove to Lagoa do Fogo. We had an amazing view from the first viewpoint, once the sunlight was touching the water surface creating different shadows of blue and green. The scenery around was only green. Like all the Azores. There are a few viewpoints while driving up the hill, and each one gives a totally different impression of the lake. There was even a purple color!

“Perhaps the most impressive illustration of all is to suppose that you could label the molecules in a tumbler of water. ... threw it anywhere you please on the earth, and went away from the earth for a few million years while all the water on the earth, the oceans, rivers, lakes and clouds had had time to mix up perfectly. Now supposing that perfect mixing had taken place, you come back to earth and draw a similar tumbler of water from the nearest tap, how many of those marked molecules would you expect to find in it? Well, the answer is 2000. There are 2000 times more molecules in a tumbler of water than there are tumblers of water in the whole earth.”

- Francis William Aston

After about 30 min driving, we got to a place, where we could leave our car and hike to the hidden like in the forest. Its a very easy road and the path leading there is magical. Rocks and stones covered with fluorescent green moss. Old, bent trees covering the way down. Sounds like a dream?

“Cow-watching turned out to be a mildly pleasant duty.”

Some troubles getting up there? Blondes didn't know they could go down the tree...

And there it was, in its glory, Lagoa do Congro. And above all, we were watching with glittering eyes the whole world around  because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Who doesn't believe in magic will never find it. We definitely did!

The only free time to eat lunch. Our perfect housewife (chujowa pani domu), preparing avocado on spoons.

I say let the world go to hell, but I should always have my tea.

As a tea lover, Cha Gorreana is awesome. You can not only taste there the only TEA made in Europe, but also get some and walk around freely to see how it actually looks. I have never seen any tea plantation!

On the way to dinner, we had some free time, therefore decided to stop by a beach in Ribeira Grande. While seeing the sun going down between mountains covered in oranges and reds, we had a few beers and had fun on the beach!  It was fun indeed!

Oh, this beer here is cold, cold and hop-bitter, no point coming up for air, gulp, till it's all--hahhhh.

The past, hey no shit, it's an open invitation to beer abuse.

then maybe

maybe

maybe

you might know

where you are

for a tiny

blinking

moment.

To finish the night, we went to eat the best steak in Azores. The place caled Associacao Agricola de Sao Miguel. I must say, they call it the best steak for a reason. Usually I do not eat beef because of my intolerance, but this time I gave it a shot and felt amazing! I could feel it was pure meat, with no weird hormones and bad animal treatment in a closed environment. All I kept saying to my friends after coming back, is that cows here are fit, because they spend so much time in the field! Sounds stupid, but it did feel that way.
